## 🎭 Troll Mode Gets Personalities

Troll mode used to have one voice. Now you pick who the bot is when it trolls your chat: the classic witty assistant, a sarcastic know-it-all, a pirate, a drunken gym bro who can't spell, a grumpy grandpa or a depressed robot. It keeps the same character for the whole conversation and still answers in your viewer's language.

Choose one on the new Troll Mode page in your dashboard. Troll mode is part of the paid plans, and every troll message still ends with the AI label.

## 🎉 More Translations on Every Plan — Same Prices

Better models and a leaner pipeline made every translation meaningfully cheaper for us to run. Rather than keep the difference, we put it into the plans: every paid tier now includes far more translations for exactly what it cost before.

- Mini — from 175 to 1,500 translations a month
- Starter — from 400 to 4,000 translations a month
- Basic — from 750 to 8,000 translations a month
- Pro — from 2,000 to 25,000 translations a month

Pro is now the top of the ladder, and we think it is enough for very nearly every channel — 25,000 translations a month is about 3.5 a minute through a four-hour stream, every single day of the month. If yours turns out to need more, just get in touch and we will sort something out. As always it is a published number, not a “fair use” allowance we can quietly reinterpret once your channel grows.

And free goes up too, from 20 to 50 translations every month with no card — with the giveaway bot and the OBS overlays included rather than held back for a paid tier.

If you are already subscribed there is nothing to do. The new limits applied to your account the moment they went live, your price is unchanged, and your Rewards Program discount of up to 35% still comes off the top.

## 🌍 AI Labels Are On Everywhere, Not Just in the EU

Every troll message now ends with MrDestructoid — the robot emote your chat already knows. It is one of Twitch's global emotes, which means it shows up no matter who posts for you: our bot, your own account, or a linked bot account. Nothing to set up, and you can still swap in an emote of your own from Settings.

We are based in the EU, so the AI Act's transparency rules are ours to meet as the people who build this bot. What we decided is that the label stays on everywhere. We are not going to switch it off depending on which country your viewers happen to be watching from — one behaviour worldwide is easier to explain, easier to trust, and honestly it is the version we would want as viewers ourselves.

It is also one less thing on your plate. Labelling AI-written chat messages is our job as the provider, and we would rather handle it inside the bot than leave you working out how to do it yourself. It is built in, it cannot be switched off, and it travels with your channel wherever your audience is.

## 🤖 Troll Mode Now Labels Itself as AI

Troll mode is the one part of Universal Translator that writes something new. A translation just says what your viewer already said in another language — nobody is fooled about where it came from. A troll reply is different: it makes its own joke, and since June it keeps a conversation going in a reply thread. That reads like a person, because it is meant to.

So from now on, every troll message ends with a label. Nothing else changes: translations, giveaway announcements, and command replies stay exactly as they are.

Why we are doing it: we would rather your chat knew. Article 50 of the EU AI Act is about making AI-generated content recognisable, and while we are not going to tell you what your obligations are, we would rather err on the safe side than argue about it later. Building the label into the bot is our job, so there is nothing you need to set up — and honestly, chat being in on the joke is better than chat being tricked by it.

There is nothing for you to do either way. The label is a small emote on the end of the message — about as unobtrusive as a disclosure gets — and it works the same whether our bot posts for you or you send under your own account. If you would rather use an emote of your own, upload one and enter its code in Settings; it takes effect the moment you save.

## Customizable Bot Responses

Make translated messages fit your channel style. Head to your settings to choose how the bot delivers translations — as a threaded reply or a standalone message. Pick from format presets or build your own template with placeholders like {message}, {username}, {lang}, and {flag}. A live preview shows exactly what your chat will see.

## What can Universal Translator not do?

- It translates chat, not your voice: there are no subtitles or captions of your stream audio.
- It works on Twitch only for now.
- Replying with !translate needs a paid plan. Incoming chat is translated on every plan, including the free one.

If you need subtitles of your voice, StreamTranslate does that and runs alongside the bot: https://streamtranslate.live/?utm_source=universal-translator.io&utm_medium=referral
