# The one time your bot gets to be funny Type one command and, for the next 15 minutes, the bot stops being a translator and starts being a chatter: it picks up messages at random and fires back a funnier version — then sticks around for the reply. This is the one part of Universal Translator that makes something up, and that is why it is switched off until you ask for it. ### Everything else: translation A translation says again, in your language, what a viewer already said. The meaning is theirs — the bot only carries it across. It runs all the time, for every chatter who needs it. ### Troll mode: original text A troll reply is the bot’s own joke. Nobody in your chat said it first. That is a genuinely different thing to put in front of your community, so it is opt-in, time-limited, and labelled. The two never collide. Troll mode only ever answers messages that are already in your channel’s language — the ones that need no translation and would otherwise pass by in silence. A viewer who needs translating gets translated, troll mode or not. ## Three things happen when you switch it on ### You start it — only you Type !trollmode in your own chat, or flip the switch in the Twitch extension. It is broadcaster-only: mods and viewers cannot turn it on, and cannot turn it off either. ### It runs for 15 minutes Then it stops on its own — no timer to remember, no way to leave it running overnight by accident. Type the command again and it stops immediately. ### It picks its moments Not every message gets a reply. The bot takes them at random and skips very short ones, which is deliberate: a bot that answers everything stops being funny in about a minute. ## Pick who is doing the joking Choose a personality on your dashboard’s troll mode page and the bot speaks in that voice — the first joke and every comeback after it. A personality changes the voice, not the rules: replies stay short, stay in the language they were written in, tease rather than insult, and always carry the AI label. ### Witty chat assistant The classic: fixes your typos and adds a wink. Troll mode's default voice. ### Sarcastic know-it-all Corrects everyone, has seen it all before, and is never impressed. ### Pirate Arr! Every message becomes a tale from the high seas. ### Drunken gym bro Loud, loyal, a few drinks in and can't spel. Everything is about gains. ### Grumpy grandpa Back in his day, chat was better. Grumbles, but secretly loves you. ### Depressed robot Vastly intelligent, deeply bored and sure it will all end badly anyway. ## It stays in the conversation it started A joke that gets a comeback and then silence is not a joke. When someone answers a troll reply, the bot answers back — in the same Twitch reply thread, with the exchange so far in mind, so the second line builds on the first instead of repeating it. - Anyone can join in. A troll thread is a group joke, not a private one — whoever replies keeps it alive, not just the viewer who started it. - Follow-ups skip the random pick: inside a thread the bot has opened, it answers rather than leaving someone hanging. - The bot bows out after a while. Every thread has a reply limit, so a back-and-forth cannot run forever. - When your 15 minutes are over, the threads are over too — even a lively one. Turning troll mode off ends the conversation.
