# Twitch Chat Translation That Works With Every Bot

Nightbot, StreamElements, Streamlabs and every other bot keep your chat moderated and your commands running. None of them tell you what a viewer typing in Spanish, Russian or Korean is saying. Universal Translator adds live chat translation next to the bot you already run.

## How do I translate my Twitch chat automatically?

Add a translation bot to your channel. It takes about two minutes, and neither you nor your viewers install anything:

1. Sign in with your Twitch account at https://www.universal-translator.io/en/for/works-with-every-twitch-bot and authorize Universal Translator.
2. Open Settings and add your Twitch channel.
3. Choose the language you want chat translated into, usually the one you stream in.
4. If your chat is in followers-only mode, make the translation bot a moderator (type /mod and the bot's name in your chat); otherwise Twitch drops its messages.
5. Go live. Messages in other languages are translated in chat within a few seconds.

## Keep Your Bot. Add Translation.

Universal Translator doesn't replace your chatbot. It complements it. Here is how it fits next to each of the popular Twitch bots.

## Chat Translation for Nightbot

Nightbot is built for moderation and commands: spam filters, the blacklist, timers, your !socials and the song request queue. It reads chat as plain text and can't tell you what a non-English message means. Universal Translator runs on its own connection next to it, so there is nothing to migrate and Nightbot stays put.

## Chat Translation for StreamElements

StreamElements runs your loyalty system, points store, overlays, alerts and minigames from one dashboard. StreamElements doesn't translate chat automatically. Its beta $(ai) variable can be wired into a custom command that translates one message when someone asks. Universal Translator translates every message as it arrives, and you give up nothing.

## Chat Translation for Streamlabs (Cloudbot)

Streamlabs ties Cloudbot, alerts, overlays and loyalty points into one streaming suite. When a viewer from Brazil or Korea types in their own language, Streamlabs shows it as-is and leaves the translating to you. Universal Translator adds live translation without touching your Streamlabs config.

## Chat Translation for Moobot

Moobot is the set-and-forget bot: automatic spam and link protection, timers and commands behind beginner-friendly settings. Understanding non-English chat isn't part of the basics it covers. Universal Translator adds live translation with the same hands-off simplicity, and your Moobot setup stays exactly as it is.

## Browser extension or bot: which do I need?

- If you are a viewer and want to read chat in your own language, use a browser extension that translates Twitch chat on your screen. Only you see the translations, and the streamer does not have to set anything up.
- If you are the streamer and want everyone in chat to understand each other, you need a bot. It posts translations into the chat itself, so you, your mods and every viewer can read them.

## What can Universal Translator not do?

- It translates chat, not your voice: there are no subtitles or captions of your stream audio.
- It works on Twitch only for now.
- Replying with !translate needs a paid plan. Incoming chat is translated on every plan, including the free one.

If you need subtitles of your voice, StreamTranslate does that and runs alongside the bot: https://streamtranslate.live/?utm_source=universal-translator.io&utm_medium=referral
